Turnip Can Heal, Helps With The Weight Loss And Fights Depression

When we go to the market we usually pass by this vegetable in our hurry to get more cucumbers, tomatoes or carrots. What a mistake!
Unfortunately in our busy days we’ve completely forgotten about one of the most efficient and beneficial vegetables – the turnip and we usually bypass it with indifference while at the market. And this is all wrong! A salad, containing turnip, is a mighty weapon against surplus weight. It also satiates the hunger and has enormous healing properties. The turnip is very useful during the winter since it helps us fight the depression resulting from the

dark cold winter months. This vegetable has proven to be most efficient when consumed raw, but the experts don’t recommend consummation of more than 250 grams of raw turnip daily, otherwise our belly might swell up.
The turnip contains abundance of enzymes and vitamins. There are 20 mg of vitamin C, 0.10 mg of vitamin B1, 0.14 mg of vitamin B2 (riboflavin), 42 mg of vitamin B4 (choline) in only 100 g of turnip. Amongst the minerals containing in the turnip potassium is most abundant. There is three times more potassium in the black turnip than in the white turnip. Also there is calcium and a lot of essential oils. These facts turn the turnip into a mighty ally in our fight against any digestive problems and disorders.

The turnip also contains sugars, mainly fructose and cellulose. The quantity of unsaturated fats and proteins is not that much.

Besides all the beneficial compounds the turnip contains, it can also be very

helpful against neurological problems. Vitamin B1, containing in the turnip, can be very helpful in fighting stress, anxiety and depressions. British scientists have proven that along with the broccoli the turnip is the most efficient vegetable in the fight against dementia.
High potassium levels (similar to the potassium levels in the carrots) improve the work of the heart and the blood vessels. The turnip has the excellent property to dispose of the bad cholesterol, and the high level of fibers in this amazing vegetable helps our organism build a better peristalsis.
When we have turnip on our menu we can successfully reduce all body swellings caused by problems in our excretory system and organs. The turnip can activate excretion of stomach fluids. The most serious effect can be observed while having gall problems especially ones caused by liver disorders and diseases.
However there are people who must avoid consuming turnip. According to medical experts no individual suffering from gastritis, colitis, stomach or duodenum ulcer should have turnip on their menu – turnip’s hot taste might deteriorate the problem.
Another useful application of the turnip is if one suffers severe festers or hardly recovering and contaminated wounds. In such cases a turnip juice can be squeezed and applied to the damaged area since it has powerful antimicrobial properties. According to many homeopathic remedies turnip can be used in various combinations for relieving rheumatic pains, gout, neuralgia, plexitis, joint pains and many other pain related disorders.
