Lumiere Brothers And The Cinematograph, An Interesting Story

The Lumière brothers, Auguste Marie Louis Nicolas and Louis Jean were among the earliest filmmakers in history.This is the story of their pioneering work that lead to the wonderful entertainment of the cinema art we have now.
Inventing the cinematograph has always been related to the name of the famous and progressive Lumiere brothers, the pioneers of the most wide spread entertainment business these days – the art of the cinema.In fact the actual inventor of the device that acts simultaneously as a videocamera and a spotlight, is the Frensh inventor Leon Bouly.In 1892 he patented his invention in Paris but a year later lost the patent after a severe court battle for the copyright.The Lumiere brothers purchased the patent after it became clear that Bouly didn’t have the finances necessary to register his invention.In 1895 the cinematograph was presented to a narrow range of people.

Later the same year the first public film projection took place in the Indian theater of Grand Café in Paris.The audience watched ten short films.Each film reel was 17 meters long.On a white canvas the audience witnessed how the Lumiere workers having lunch break came to life.There were also acrobats on horses, working blacksmiths, a baby having a breakfast, happy people in the sea waters, even comedians and gigs.
The whole year after that the brothers toured around the world to present the miraculous work of the cinematograph.They presented their art in Bombay, London, New York.The first official movie theater in the world was build especially for the purpose in Paris.The audience had a lot of fun watching how the train on the screen approached and literally could have smashed the viewers.Lumiere brothers spent their whole loves working at their father’s photography materials factory and, in fact, we owe Lumiere brothers what we call “reality genre”.Lumiere brothers were the first to film real life events without tampering them with special effects.They’ve always said that cinema was an “intriguing entertainment”, but it had no future in the new developing world.Eventually Lumiere brothers refused to sell the cinematograph to the movie author George Melies and left it in oblivion despite Melies was also a pioneer in his field.The brothers returned back to photography and struggled to turn their work from black and white into colors.But the cinematograph didn’t remain forgotten for a long time.It was a revolutionary invention for its time, it gained a huge amount of fans and patrons.In result, at the end of the 19th century the cinema art conquered hearts, souls and minds of literally every single individual on the planet.
